Rice University Students

Actors:

The Rice Players host several opportunities for student actors. Our primary mainstage productions require roughly 2-3 hours of rehearsal every weekend leading up to our show. We have no requirements to audition; our auditions are open to any Rice University student regardless of major, residential college, gender, or race.  We also occasionally have lower-commitment staged readings which involve about a week of rehearsal time.

Technicians:

As a student-run company, the Rice Players have many opportunities for student technicians. We accept applications from Rice students for all major technical theatre roles (excluding directors) for our Mainstage Productions. These include, but are not limited to: Props, Costumes, Set, Sound, Lights, Stage Management, Board Operators etc.

Student Directors:

Occasionally, the Rice Players have opportunities for student directors. Often, student directors have the chance to direct our staged readings. We also usually have an assistant director role available during our Mainstage Productions.

Writers:

Our main opportunity for student playwrights is PlayFest, our annual playwriting competition. See that tab for additional information.
